Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoros. Capital: Moroni. Situated in southern Africa, Comoros is a group of islands in the Mozambique Channel, about two-thirds of the way between northern Madagascar and northern Mozambique. The four major islands are: Ngazidja, Mwali, Nzwani, and Mayotte (Maore)
