Law of December 9, 1905
Article 1: The Republic ensures the liberty of conscience. It guarantees
the free exercise of religion, under restrictions prescribed by the
interest in public order.
Article 2: The Republic does not recognize, remunerate, or subsidize any
religious denomination
Article 10 of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen of
1789: no one should be harassed about his or her opinions, including
religious opinions.
Article 2 of the Constitution of 4 October 1958: France is a "secular"
state that "assures equality before the law for all citizens without
distinction based on origin, race or religion."
